Modest Weight Loss May Prevent Cancer

SEATTLE – A study with results published in the journal Cancer Research suggests that modest weight loss may reduce the risk of certain types of cancer.

In this study the participants were broken up into two groups. One just reduced its caloric intake. The second group reduce its caloric intake and also participated in aerobic (cardiovascular) exercise.

The study showed significant reductions in reducing inflammatory markers which have been correlated with certain cancers.

For instance, during the one-year study, C-reactive protein levels went down by about 36 percent in the diet-alone group and by 42 percent in the diet and exercise group. Interleukin-6 levels decreased by about 23 percent in the diet group and 24 percent in the diet and exercise group,

According to the researchers, these inflammatory markers have not only been tied to heart trouble, but have also been associated with increased risk for such cancers as breast, colon, lung and endometrial cancer.

According to the researchers, “a 40 percent reduction in C-reactive protein “could be expected to reduce breast, endometrial and other cancer risk…”

This newest study provides more good reasons to consider making sure that you are not overweight and exercising.

Cardio Combustion

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Sunday edition of the weekly featured product.

Because we have one of the world’s largest varieties of different genres of instructional exercise and health improvement DVDs and a large number of natural supplements, sometimes customers have questions about the differences of various products.

Each week we’ll address a common question that we get from customers.

We hope you find this new edition of Naturecast Health Alerts informative.

What Is Cardio Combustion?

There are two principle aspects to fitness training.

They are muscle building and cardiovascular training and they are both equally important to your long term health, appearance and mobility.

Having ample lean muscle will make you look and feel good. It will also allow you to be agile and mobile. Plus, it will help keep you lean because muscle burns much more calories than fat. In fact, muscles burn calories while you sit doing nothing.

But also equally important is your cardiovascular health. Getting enough proper cardio exercise will help make your heart and lungs strong, lower your blood pressure, burn off fat and give you energy and endurance.

In recent times there has been quite a bit of new research that points to the fact that shorter quick burst cardio workouts are actually much more beneficial to your health. That long workouts cause your body to try and ration it’s resources and slow your metabolism and thin down. All you need to do to know this is true is look at any marathon runner’s body. They are pencil thin.

With all this research Naturecast Products set out to find a fitness expert who was well versed in short burst cardio workouts. We found that in Kim Jones and her Cardio Combustion Workout Program.

It’s literally a ten minute program and it will give you all the cardio workout you need. She actually has two workouts on the video. One is for beginners that most anyone who can comfortably walk around a move a bit can do and one is for more advanced workout enthusiasts who really want to push themselves.

Getting regular cardio workouts is very important in addition to muscle workouts. If you’re interested in finding a proven cardio workout program that only takes ten minutes a day you might want to get more information about Kim Jones’ Cardio Combusion Program by clicking right here.

Fight Muscle Loss and Inflammation

Including exercise, such as jogging, may help you build muscle and reduce inflammation as you age

DALLAS – According to a new study published in Circulation, exercise has been proven to not only counter age related muscle breakdown, but also reduce inflammation caused by aging.

The researchers conducted a study with two groups. One half of the participants were healthy volunteers and the other half had previous heart failure. Additionally, half of the participants were under 55 years of age and the others were 65 years and older.

For four weeks, half of the participants in each age group were given exercise regimes that included both cardiovascular and muscle building exercise while the other half did no exercise. Researchers took muscle biopsies of all participants before and after the exercise period.

The results where that heart failure patients 55 and under increased their peak oxygen uptake by 25 percent, while those 65 and over increased it by 27 percent.

Furthermore, according to the biopsy results, researchers found that levels of a muscle protein indicating muscle breakdown, known as MuRF1, were higher in participants with heart failure than in their healthier counterparts. However, exercise reduced MuRF1 and reduced muscle inflammation, measured by levels of a protein called TNF-alpha.

According to Stephan Gielen, M.D., lead co-author and Deputy Director of Cardiology at the University Hospital, Martin-Luther-University of Halle, Germany:

“Exercise switches off the muscle-wasting pathways and switches on pathways involved in muscle growth, counteracting muscle loss and exercise intolerance in heart failure patients.”

With all of the well established benefits of exercise and this new information that it can actually reduce inflammation, you might want to make sure that you are on a regular exercise program.
