Four foods that can prevent early death

Besides trying to control weight gain by lower calorie intake there’s something else you can do that can drastically reduce your risk of dying from a heart attack and other dangerous ailments. The University of California study we report on today describes four kinds of snack foods that have been proven to get the job done. I’m going to make an effort to switch to only snacking on these foods. If you’re interested in improving your odds of living a long and healthy life you might want to consider doing the same.

Snacks That Provide Health Benefits

CALIFORNIA—A recent study conducted at the University of California found several foods that are considered to be healthy snack foods, and provide many health benefits.

The study analyzed several previous studies that looked at different snack foods and found 4 that provided great health benefits, which include:

1. Popcorn: Studies have shown that popcorn helps prevent heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Specifically, a previous study showed that whole grain popcorn helped reduce insulin levels by 10 percent, which helps prevent and control diabetes.

2. Fruits and vegetables: Substituting these instead of an unhealthy snack could significantly lower the risk of obesity, which could increase your risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses.

3. Nuts: These are considered a super-food, due to the high levels of nutrients and fiber. Studies have shown that those who eat nuts twice or more a week were 50 percent less likely to die from a heart attack. In addition, peanuts have been shown to help control blood sugar and hunger.

4. Yogurt (low or non-fat): Studies have shown that yogurt provides good bacteria for digestion, in addition to being high in protein and calcium.
